What we do today matters!

I do not study and teach about history for the curiosity of it. Everything that I do is rooted in my love for humanity and for the world as a whole. Across time and space, we see the incredible connections that inspire and root us, but we don’t always recognize the significance of the connections that we have (and could have) right here and now in our own communities, in our own time.

If you are craving community in our historic times and need help connecting for the sake of future history and your own sanity, please reach out to me, and I’ll do my best to help you find support and camaraderie.

In particular, if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community in SE WI, please know that it is vital to me that we do all that we can to help others in our community through all that we are now facing. Not one of us need face it all alone. Not one.

Connecting Helpers to Helpers

The Southeast Wisconsin Community Alliance is a young organization that seeks to promote democracy and the spirit of community in Wisconsin’s first congressional district by helping small groups and individuals connect with and help one another. We are focused on rural areas and small towns where people have big hearts but tend to have a more limited reach. Join us to learn how and where you can lend a hand in a way that will make a big difference!

Visit https://sewica.com/ to sign up for more info, and look for our SEWICA group on facebook.

You’ll see me out there!

Whatever the event, if you need a safe person, I’m always pretty conspicuous. Health allowing, I try to attend many of the political actions in the Kenosha-Racine area, focusing on LGBTQ+ issues in particular. If you want to be involved but are uncomfortable being at an event alone, come check in with me! (photo credit GR)

After the sudden closure of the LGBT Center of SE WI this spring, a great many kind-hearted people have come forth, wanting to help. If you’re just looking for community, feel free to contact me for information about our weekly social group meetings via zoom.

For other events and services, both the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center https://www.mkelgbt.org/ and the nascent People’s Center https://www.thepeoplescenter.us/ can help you make connections. There are wonderful people involved with both!
