Holly Two! Copper Boogaloo!

The title of this blog post is ridiculous, I know, but my son will eventually notice it and giggle. It'll all be worth it. Thank you for being my accomplices.

Now, on to the boogaloo.

I continue to work on pendants/ornaments with a yuletide theme. I intend to submit one for a holiday contest, and I expect that others might do well at holiday shows.

Since I don't like to embark on new journeys without inviting folks to come along, I've been trying to figure out videos. With… varying levels of success.

Alright. So the first one is sideways, and no amount of turning it fixed it. I could get it to play upside down, but that seemed somehow worse. I'll just… I mean… Good luck with that.

My phone and I are still at odds, so I apologize. This video shows the basic method for transferring a drawing to your rolled clay. Later parts will show the sculpting process.

There are six videos in total. The other five are oriented properly, so that's a plus. Some of them did just end abruptly on their own. I mean… it's a learning process.

I do hope that you'll find these useful. You could use this process to create bas relief versions of your own line drawings or photos. If you do, I'd love to see what you make.

Finishing up the initial sculpt for the second Holly Spirit ornament. I'll be creating the mold in part 4
In this video I demonstrate making a polymer clay mold of a polymer clay bas relief piece.
Part 5 of 6 in a series of videos showing how I make a polymer clay ornament from sketch to completion. This video cuts off awkwardly. If you're following along with your own project, just keep pressing clay into the mold, but don't let it get too thin.

I haven't decided which of these to submit to the event at the art museum, but I have another week to decide. Who knows? Maybe I'll make another design before then.
